The Doppler Radar is our go-to piece of equipment to sample precipitation, but that's not all it can see. Today, an outflow boundary surged southward across I-20 setting up just the right conditions to drive our radar beam into the ground. As a result, it started returning velocity data from traffic southwest of the Benbrook area! While this isn't unusual at night, it's quite neat to see during the afternoon and early evening.
