The studio head of Guerrilla Games has stated that the Horizon franchise was always conceived as having multiplayer, even though the all the mainline entries have been single-player so far.

Horizon Steel Frontiers is separate to the Horizon Multiplayer game that Guerrilla Games is working on as its next big project, according to a respected journalist and insider.
