Senate will craft new spending resolution as Republicans express optimism on ending the shutdown
S.D., told reporters on Monday they were “getting close” to a deal, which would likely result in a new spending resolution.
If the Senate had approved the House-passed short-term government funding bill on or before the beginning of the shutdown, it would have extended the funding deadline for seven weeks -- until Nov. 21 -- buying congressional appropriators nearly two months to continue their work on full-year funding bills before another funding deadline.
In an interview with NBC News after a packed event, Platner bashed "establishment politics" and said he's still more electable than Democratic rival Janet Mills.
